Newborn | Ayvah

I love to meet first time parents.  Justin and Amanda were no different.  They were in complete awe of their little baby girl.  I love watching new parents just breath in every little moment… staring at and studying their baby, not wanting to miss a second of the first days of life.

Their daughter, Ayvah Dawn, was brought into the world on February 2, 2012.  She weighed just over 7 pounds and was 20 1/2 inches long.    The day I met Ayvah, she was 9 days old.  She had the sweetest little lips and I couldn’t get enough of them.

It was such a joy to hang out with this family for a couple hours.  There was no denying that mommy and daddy have fallen head over heals in love with their daughter.  I could tell after minutes of talking with them that they are going to be great parents.

Congrats again, Justin and Amanda.  I look forward to getting together again soon for your family session and Ayvah’s 3 month photos!

Newborn | FAQ

When is the best time to book my newborn session?
The best time to book your newborn session is during your pregnancy. I will reserve a time frame for you based on your due date. Once you have delivered your newborn (or have a c-section scheduled) please contact me ASAP so that we can set up an actual date and time for your session.

What is the perfect age to photograph my newborn?
The best time to photograph your newborn is before 10 days of age.

Where will the newborn session take place?
The session will take place in your home. I will bring several props (blankets, hats, wraps, baskets, etc) to the session and we can also incorporate special items of your own. We may use various locations in your home: the nursery, couch, your bed, etc. Please don’t worry about having a “spotless” house during your session!

What is included in the newborn session fee?
The newborn session fee includes traveling to your home, up to two and a half hours of my time and talent photographing your newborn, the use of various props (blankets, hats, wraps, baskets, etc), post session editing of photographs, and online proofing of your edited images.

Is there anything I should do to prepare for my newborn session?
When photographing a newborn “less is more”. I will do a majority of the session “al natural” so that I can photograph and preserve all the little details of your newborn. It is best that you turn up your home temperature several degrees during the session to keep the baby as warm and comfortable as possible. A full baby makes a happy, sleepy baby. It is best if the baby is fed while I’m setting up. I am also a natural light photographer, so do not be alarmed if I open curtains/blinds and move furniture (with your permission) during the session to get the best light possible. Mama and Daddy are more then welcome to be in some of the photos as well, but remember we are going for simple – a plain colored shirt and jeans will be perfect and assure that the focal point of the photograph will be directed to your new baby.

I can’t wait to meet you and your newborn!
